| Prof.
G. Padmanabhan : Prof. Padmanabhan, Chairman of the Scientific
Advisory Committee of Yashraj Biotechnology Ltd., is an honorary professor and
holds the NASI-Platinium Jubilee Chair at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Recipient of Padmashree and Padmabhushan, Prof Padmanabhan has also been conferred
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, BR Ambedkar Award , Ranbaxy Award and the first
Distinguished Biotechnologist Award of the DBT, for his outstanding contributions
to science. He is acclaimed for his groundbreaking work in recombinant DNA technology
in life science research. His significant contributions include transcriptional
regulation of drug metabolizing genes in liver, elucidating the mechanism of chloroquine
action and its resistance in the malarial parasite, new drug targets for malaria
etc. As director IISc, he had promoted academia-industry interaction. He is especially
involved in promoting industries in the area of modern vaccines, drug discovery
and diagnostics. |
Dr.
Seyed Hasnain : Dr. Hasnain, currently the Vice-Chancellor
of University of Hyderabad, was the founder Director of the Center for DNA Fingerprinting
and Diagnostics until 2005. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Council
to the Prime Minister, which is the highest decision and policy making body for
Science & Technology for the country. Dr. Hasnain has authored more than 180
original research papers and several book chapters. He has about a dozen patents
filed in India and abroad. He is an elected Fellow of all the major Science Academies
in the country and abroad including the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS),
Italy and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and has been conferred
Padmashree by the President of India for his outstanding contributions to science. | |

Gyanchandra Mishra : Dr. Mishra is currently the Director
of National Center for Cell Science, Pune. He has over 20 years of experience
in cellular immunology and cell biology. He has been conferred Padmashree by the
President of India, received Ranbaxy Resaerch Award for Excellence in Medical
Science and is a Fellow of National Academy of Science, India. |
Dr.
Satish Gupta : Dr. Gupta is a senior scientist working at
the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. He has made outstanding contributions
in the areas of reproductive immunology, gamete biology, contraceptive vaccine
development, diagnostics and infertility. He is an elected fellow of several academies
including National Academy of Medical Sciences; Indian National Science Academy;
Indian Academy of Sciences; and National Academy of Sciences. He has published
over 150 papers in peer reviewed journals of national and international repute.
He is a recipient of many awards including Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in Medical
Sciences. | |

Rajiv Sarin : Prof. Rajiv Sarin is the Director of
Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, and Professor
of Radiation Oncology and In-Charge of the Cancer Genetics Unit at the Tata Memorial
Hospital. Trained in Radiation Oncology and Clinical Oncology, he is a fellow
of the Faculty of Clinical Oncology of the Royal College of Radiologists (London)
and the American and European Societies for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
His research interests include cancer genetics, breast cancer, brain tumors and
developing and testing new technologies. |
Dr.
Islam Khan : Dr. Khan did his Ph.D from Aligarh Muslim University.
After working a post-doctoral fellow at MBU, IISc, Bangalore and Albert Einstein
College of Medicine, New York, USA, he joined NCL, where he is Scientist F.
Dr. Khan's research expertise is in the area of protein chemistry, protein purification,
glycobiology, enzymology and nanobiotechnology. He has received INSA Young scientist
(1986), CSIR Young Scientist (1992) and DBT Career Development (2002) awards.
He is Fellow of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences and Member of National Academy
of Science, Allahabad. | |
