Name Alpha-Feto Protein (AFP)
What is AFP? AFP is a plasma protein that in humans is encoded by the AFP gene and is produced by the yolk sac and fetal liver during fetal development. It is a glycoprotein of amino-acids and a carbohydrate moiety.
What is it used for? High levels of AFP indicate carcinomas, Hodgkin disease, renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) and developmental birth defects.

Viral testing Negative for HBs-Ag, Anti-HCV and Anti-HIV I & II using CLIA (US-FDA approved) and for absence of viral DNA/RNA for HBV, HIV and HCV using PCR.

YBL Native AFP salient features

  • Purity: ≥95% purity for AFP (high pure) was observed and purity profile was checked using SDS-PAGE and Activity/TP ratio.
  • Stability data: AFP is stable for 3 years at 2-8°C based on real time stability study.
  • Testing Method: ECLIA
  • Testing Platform: Roche-cobas
  • Viral testing: The viral marker test for HBs-Ag, Anti-HCV and Anti-HIV (I and II) was done using CLIA (US-FDA Approved). The antigen was also tested for the absence of viral DNA/RNA for HBV, HIV (I) and HCV using PCR technology.
