What is Pregnancy Associated Plasma Protein A? PAPP-A is a glycoprotein produced by the syncytiotrophoblasts during pregnancy. Its proteolytic function is activated upon collagen binding and is involved in local proliferative processes like wound-healing and bone-remodeling.
What is it used for? It is used to detect early pregnancy levels of Pregnancy-Associated Plasma Protein A and the risk of intrauterine growth restriction, down syndrome, premature birth, preeclampsia, and stillbirth.
