Name Recombinant NGAL-mutant (rNGAL mutant)
What is rNGAL mutant? NGAL belongs to the lipocalin superfamily and is encoded by the LCN2 gene. It is expressed by the immune cells, hepatocytes, and renal tubular cells in various disease states. The rNGAL-mutant shows less dimerization owing to Cysteine to Serine replacement at position 107.
What is it used for? NGAL is a reliable prognostic marker for kidney/renal failures and is also involved in modulation of the inflammatory response.
