Anti Cluster of Differentiation 64 (Anti-CD64)
CD64 is a 72 kDa single chain type I glycoprotein also known as FCƳRI. CD64 is the high-affinity Fc Ƴ receptor expressed on monocytes/macrophages, eosinophils, neutrophils and dendritic cells. In resting mature neutrophils, CD64 is expressed at very low levels. It is strongly upregulated upon neutrophil activation by the pro-inflammatory cytokines which are produced during infection or sepsis. It can increase up to 5–10-fold allowing good discrimination between healthy and disease. Antibodies to CD64 are routinely used in the diagnosis of sepsis using flow cytometry.
