Advanced 3D iPSC-derived cardiac model for improved drug-induced cardiotoxicity assessment
Summary
This conference poster presents an advanced 3D iPSC-derived cardiac model developed to improve the assessment of drug-induced cardiotoxicity. By combining iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and human cardiac fibroblasts within the SmartHeart® 3D co-culture platform, the study demonstrates a more physiologically relevant in vitro cardiac model with enhanced structural and functional characteristics compared to conventional 2D systems.
The model showed promising utility for cardiotoxicity screening, with successful evaluation of calcium flux, contractility, and drug response across multiple compounds. These findings highlight the platform’s potential as a predictive tool for drug discovery, safety assessment, and advanced cardiac disease modeling.
