Researchers at Yashraj Biotechnology Ltd. developed an analytical approach to detect and verify the glycosylation patterns of prostate specific antigen (PSA), a key biomarker for prostate cancer. PSA was purified from human seminal plasma and from prostate cancer sera, and a new anti-PSA monoclonal antibody (C4E6) was characterized. Combining C4E6 with biotinylated plant lectins, the team established a lectin based immunoassay that can detect changes in the fucosylation and sialylation of PSA, offering a promising route towards improved, early detection of prostate cancer.
