Researchers at Yashraj Biotechnology Ltd. successfully expressed recombinant human ST3Gal-I, a sialyltransferase linked to aberrant glycosylation in cancer, in E. coli and purified it to over 95% purity. Using hybridoma technology, they developed a panel of high-affinity monoclonal antibodies, including clone 7E5 1C8 3A10, which specifically detects ST3Gal-I and shows strong staining in breast cancer tissue with minimal background in benign fibroadenoma. These antibodies are a promising tool for cancer diagnostics and glycan research.
